Moeder Overste (330ml Bottle)
Moeder Overste (Mother Superior), a beer from Flemish origin with strong character, is certainly one of the best beers of Brasserie Lefebvre. It is served in a clean dry glass with a beautiful head of unctuous foam. Enjoy it but in moderation as Moeder Overste can be treacherous. . . Brewed at high fermentation, Moeder Overste is what we call a Triple Beer. According to your taste, drink it cool (5°C) or at a room temperature (10°C). Its alcoholic content is 8%.
Nice white head and deeply golden colour. Smell: very fruity Taste: alcohol, spicy, malty, dried plums and sweet. It’s a very nice balanced beer.
Like other abbey ales, Tripels are strong, yeasty-malty beers. But they are also pale, and have a notable hop profile. Hop bitterness may be higher than a typical abbey ale, up to 35IBUs. But the finish is where the hops really shine, as tripels should finish fairly dry. Otherwise, maltiness is still essential to the style, and the assertive yeast note typical of all abbey ales will be more apparent in tripels, since they do not have the rich dark malts to distract the palate. Alcohol flavours feature more prominently in Tripels that in just about any other style.
