North Coast Brother Thelonious (355ml Bottle)
Jazz icon Thelonious Monk is the inspiration for North Coast Brewing's new Belgian-style abbey ale called, appropriately enough, Brother Thelonious. Like a Belgian ?Dark Strong Ale?, the beer is rich and robust with an ABV of 9%.
Pours a dark purplish brown color with a nice layer of frothy tan head that stays the entire drink. Aroma is very sweet and sugary, lots of raisins, brown sugar and spice. Flavor is a wonderfully complex mix of chocolate, caramel, dark fruits, raisins, and a rummy booziness in the finish that makes you want to sip this near a fire. Excellent beer.
