Jopen Witte Rook (330ml Bottle)
"White Smoke" is our smoked blond Weizenbock. This blond beer is brewed as the first brews of the year. The beer is then ready to drink around the time of Lent. The aroma of the White Smoke is determined by a malt smoked with beech wood, which produces a soft bacon-like aroma. This combines well with the fruity aromas of the Weizenbock.
White Smoke was the first Jopen beer brewed in the church in 2011 and has now become a seasonally recurring beer. The beer is bottled in small quantities.
The classic smoked beers hail from Bamberg in Franconia, Germany. These are made using malt that has been smoked over beechwood. The insistent smokiness may be applied to any lager style. In North America, the same technique has been used to make smoked porter. Whiskey malt beers are made using peat-smoked malt.
