Aotearoa Mata Taniwha (500ml Bottle)
Taniwha is a silky smooth, full-bodied malty ale infused with smokey, earthy, barbeque notes and whiskey-like character. A hangi-pit (a New Zealand style earth-oven) is filled with malted barley, sweet kumara and potatoes. The result is an award winning gold medal beer that's as fierce and tantalising as the mystical Taniwha.
The classic smoked beers hail from Bamberg in Franconia, Germany. These are made using malt that has been smoked over beechwood. The insistent smokiness may be applied to any lager style. In North America, the same technique has been used to make smoked porter. Whiskey malt beers are made using peat-smoked malt.
