Emerson's Phantom Lord (500ml Bottle)
Phantom Lord is a stout. A big, black stout. It displays all the classic stout, characteristics. Black as tar, opulent roast and chocolate notes yet hopped in the way we would hop an American Style Pale Ale. The malt grist is made up primarily of ale, roast barley, chocolate and crystal malts, with rolled oats included to add that smooth mouth feel. Phantom Lord has been mash hopped, first wort hopped, hopped in the kettle and once boiled, the steaming hot wort has been pumped through fresh, new season hop cones – hop backed! Fermenting with an English Ale yeast has added a luxurious depth to the malty mouthfeel. Once this yeast has almost done its work, we have pumped another massive dose of hop pellets into the fermenter. The result, a 2-for-1 type experience. A complex array of satisfying malt balanced with the fruity, resinous hop aroma and flavour most beer drinkers yearn for all year round. If you’re wondering about the name, it’s not meant as a reference to the ever travelling Mr Emerson. We’re referring to the once great heavy metal pioneers, Metallica and a song title from their revolutionary first album. Raise your glass, to malt, to hops and to their wonderful combination. India Pale Ale & IPA
India Pale Ale gets its name and unique style from British brewers who were making beer for export to India. This style has an intense hop flavor which was used to preserve the beer for the long voyage. India Pale Ale has a golden to copper color with a medium maltiness and body. The aroma is moderate to very strong. IPAs work especially well at cutting the heat of chili, vindaloo or Sichuan cuisine.
