Epic Hop Farmer NZ IPA (330ml Can)
Winter has arrived which means it's time for the Smith’s Craft Beer House NZIPA Competition in Queenstown. Keeping in the theme of NZ Hops we have made our brand new IPA Hop Farmer.
Hop Farmer? Why? These wonderful people work so hard to grow these hop to a standard which we as brewers don’t need to give it a second thought. We just always expect the hops to be high quality. Growers have to deal with nature, and the weather, droughts, and rain, and wind. All which can have such an impact on the outcome of the hops at the end of a season. This beer is an acknowledgement to they, a sign of appreciation for what they do to create us a wonderful supply of the delicious little flowers we use to make
As required by the New Zealand IPA competition we have used all New Zealand grown malt and hops. The Pale Ale malt was grown in Marton and supplied by Malturope. The hops are Pacific Jade and Nelson Sauvin supplied by NZ Hops.
The hop profile is dominated by Nelson Sauvin because that is such a delicious hop and has become the flagship hop for New Zealand.
India Pale Ale & IPA
India Pale Ale gets its name and unique style from British brewers who were making beer for export to India. This style has an intense hop flavor which was used to preserve the beer for the long voyage. India Pale Ale has a golden to copper color with a medium maltiness and body. The aroma is moderate to very strong. IPAs work especially well at cutting the heat of chili, vindaloo or Sichuan cuisine.
