Harrington's Brewers Selection Doppelbock (500ml Bottle)
For many years Doppelbock was drunk exclusively by German Friars as a means of getting through periods of fasting. By drinking instead of eating the malt, the "liquid bread" allowed them to receive sustenance during hungry times. Being high in alcohol, the Friars must have been a lot of fun during these periods when they would get very hungry and require a lot of liquid food.
Our version of this famous German beer uses traditional Bavarian ale yeast to produce a beer that is true to its heritage while having its own personality. Look for a strong, malty sweetness that lingers in the mouth.
Doppel means double and while these are stronger brews than the traditional German bocks, they are typically not twice the strength. Color is light amber to dark brown. Very full body with a high alcoholic flavor. Low hop flavor and aroma.
