Hook Norton Double Stout (500ml Bottle)
A smooth, full-bodied stout with a refreshing hoppy aftertaste. Brewed with proportions of Black Malt for colour and 'toast' flavour and Brown Malt for dryness. Based on a recipe over 100 years old, brewing was revived in 1996 after a break of 79 years.
A blend of malts gives Double Stout a character all of its own. Black malt enriches the colour and teases the palate with an unmistakable toasted flavour. Brown malt gives it a dryness.
Many stouts do not fit the classic "Irish" definition as exemplified by Guinness, either due to their hop or roast rates, or higher gravity (in the case of many American stouts). They are still basic stouts, however, not falling into any of the subclasses.
