Ale Mary (500ml Bottle)

Ale Mary 500ml Bottle

Description

A bottle conditioned version of Firebox with the addition of spice oils. Pale malt, chocolate malt; Progress and Target hops; ginger, cloves, cinnamon, corriander, nutmeg, pimento. A dark, rich spicy bottle-conditioned ale, resonant with Christmas seasonal flavours and designed to take the chill off the coolest winter night. Ale Mary has a warm and sweet aroma of cloves, coriander and ginger. The palate provides touches of rum, raisins and sultanas, with a dry fruity finish.

Tasting Notes

Pours out a hazy brown, with modest initial head. Nose is a mix of sweet malt and spicy, peppery hops, somewhat faint but a pleasant combination. Well-balanced flavour of caramel malt and moderately high hop bitterness. It has light esters and a dry finish.

English Strong Ale

Malty, with complex fruity esters. Some oxidative notes are acceptable, akin to those found in port or sherry. Hop aromas not usually present, due to extended age. Medium amber to very dark red-amber color. Malty and usually sweet. Alcoholic strength should be evident, though not overwhelming. Medium to full body alcohol should contribute some warmth. An ale of significant alcoholic strength, though usually not as strong or rich as barleywine. Usually tilted toward a sweeter, more malty balance. Often regarded as winter warmers, and often released as seasonal beers.
