Anderson Valley Brother Davids Double (650ml Bottle)
Brewed at the Anderson Valley Brewing Company by David Keene, the owner of the legendary San Francisco beer-bar, Toronado, this double-style ale features the huge fruit flavours combined with yeastiness and spiciness that Belgian ales are known for.
Large creamy off-white head that mostly lasted. Fair display of lacework. Cloudy dark amber almost brown color. Aroma of toasted malt, nutty, caramel, mild bread, hint of yeast, dried fruity notes. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and light alcoholic texture. Moderated sweet flavor. Lingering nutty finish.
These are dark, malty, yeasty strong ales in the Trappist tradition, but produced (mainly) by secular brewers. Dubbels range between 6.5-8% abv, and have a dark brown, cloudy colour, and a palate mixing malt, a lush fruitiness, and yeast. They are typically bottle-conditioned.
