Coney Island Albino Python (650ml Bottle)
Shmaltz Brewing Company reveals a most charming attraction: the sensual dance of provocative hops and spices entwined with a sumptuous and elegant malt body. Taste the rapture. Surrender to temptation. Seduce and be seduced.
Cloudy, rich orange-amber pour, minimal fizzy white head with some slight retention. Very strong spicy aroma, lots of coriander and ginger--reminiscent of a ginger ale, actually. Ginger is also quite prominent on the palate, along with noble hops and pepper. Long, gingery finish. Much fuller mouthfeel than I had been expecting and good, even carbonation. Held my interest. All in all a curious but quite pleasant beer, a bit dirty and garish perhaps but then again so is Coney Island...I also enjoyed the rather naughty label.
Belgian White & Witbier
Belgian style wheat beers are very pale, opaque, with the crisp character of wheat, plus the citric refreshment of orange peel and coriander. Ingredients sometimes also include oats for smoothness, and other spices such as grains of paradise. Serve with light cheeses or mussels.
