Rogue Dead Guy Ale (355ml Bottle)
Dead Guy is created from Northwest Harrington, Klages, Maier Munich and Carastan malts, along with Perle and Saaz Hops. In the early 1990s Dead Guy Ale was created as a private tap sticker to celebrate the Mayan Day of the Dead (November 1st, All Souls Day) for Casa U Betcha in Portland, Oregon. The Dead Guy design proved popular and was incorporated into a bottled product a few years later with MaierBock as the elixir.
What can you say about the dead guy? This is an outstanding beer with a wonderful array of malt flavors and aromas complimented with a gentle hoppiness. The munich and caramel malts lend a rich biscuit and caramel flavor that represents the german Bock style very well, a definite go to.
The Heller Bock is primarily a malty beer from the German brewing tradition with little hop character - neither bitter nor aromatic - though the style typically has a little more hops than the standard Bock. The color is golden to light brown or amber. They should normally pour with a substantial white head. All examples are pale and clear.
